The short version: we keep your email address to send you the Thursday email, and nothing more. One click unsubscribes you.

Who we are

nicktimms.com and the Thursday email are run by Sugarloaf Consulting Ltd (company no. 15028503), Building 18, Gateway 1000, Whittle Way, Arlington Business Park, Stevenage SG1 2FP. We are the controller of your data. Questions go to nick@nicktimms.com, and Nick answers them himself.

What we collect

If you sign up: your email address, the time you signed up, and where you signed up from (which page, or which of our products sent you). Nothing else, and we never ask for your name.

When we email you: whether the email was delivered, opened, or a link in it was clicked. It tells us what’s useful, and lets us stop emailing people who no longer read.

When you visit: Google Analytics counts visits and pages using cookies. It doesn’t tell us who you are. You can block it with any cookie or ad blocker and the site works the same.

If you reply: your email and whatever you write. We read every reply and don’t share them.

Why, and on what basis

We use your email address only to send you the Thursday email and the occasional note about it. If you signed up, the basis is your consent. If you read Founder Content, our earlier newsletter, you’re on the list as its continuation, on the basis of our legitimate interest in writing to existing readers. Either way, one click on “Unsubscribe” ends it.

We never sell your data, never share your address with advertisers, and never add you to another product’s list.

Who helps us

A few services process data for us, under contracts that limit them to doing just that: Resend (sends the email), Supabase (stores the list), Vercel (hosts the site) and Google Analytics (counts visits). Some are based in the US. Where data leaves the UK, it’s protected by the safeguards UK law requires.

How long we keep it

Until you unsubscribe. After that we keep your address on a do-not-email list, only so we never email you again by mistake. If you’d rather we removed even that, tell us.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to us using it. Email nick@nicktimms.com and we’ll reply within a month, usually within a day.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
